This Olde Bridge O' mine
I had been away for so long on my roads journey of life,
wandering and feeling my way as we all do with our might.
Then somehow one day I came back and I remembered you,
as the floodgates of long ago came with the things kids do.

I now think of the hours we used to spend together in peace,
not realizing the fun you gave and now a smile of release.
You were rusty then and now seem to be held in rustic red,
but my childhood was enahanced and imaginations were fed.

Whether we gathered as kids to play army.... or to just fish,
spending time with you answered our fantasies and a wish.
You took us away for hours even though rooted in one place,
we took time for each other and lingered without todays haste.

Its sad I realize now as I have come back to visit with you,
that we forgot about taking time for each other like we knew.
However coming back and remembering what you were to me,
has been a great lesson  remembering whats important to see.

Dont you ever go back to that place that your friends played,
and remember what you did.... on those great summer days?
I think its healthy and that is why I let my mind wander again,
as those were wonderful moments with a bridge and my friends.

I do not want to grow old inside even as my body does age,
if I do then I am turning on my youth and tearing out that page.
Time can take away our youth and the excitement of play,
its up to us to remember or to just consider it all just a day.

Wake up mind and body and spirit.....and remember your bridge,
and walk up from your valleys to the very top of life's ridges.
Look down from above things and remember the journey come,
lose not the joy of life because there is a time meant for fun.

So here is to you the olde bridge of mine... that I remember,
as my life was in January and now is possibly near september.
I raise the glass in a salute of friends and all memories past,
because if I choose to hold dear..... all of this will surely last
